Questions about your payment overview
What does my first payment consist of?
Your first payment is the total amount for the period shown at the top of the payment overview. The amount may consist of monthly rent, discount, start-up and lock, as well as the selected insurance cover.
What does monthly rent mean?
Monthly rent is the standard price for your storage unit for a full month before any discount. If you move in mid-month, the rent is calculated pro rata based on your access date.
How is the rent discount calculated?
As a new customer, you receive a 50% discount on the rent for the first two months. The discount applies to the rent only and is calculated pro rata if you gain access to the unit mid-month.
What does start-up and lock cover?
Start-up and lock is a one-time payment that covers the creation of your rental agreement and a unique lock for your storage unit. The amount is added to your first payment only.
What does sum insured mean?
The sum insured is the total value for which your stored belongings are insured. The price in the payment overview depends on the sum insured you choose.
Do I need to choose Pelican’s insurance?
Pelican’s own insurance is optional, but your stored belongings must be covered by insurance. You can choose Pelican’s insurance or use your own if it meets Pelican’s requirements and you can document the cover. We recommend Pelican’s insurance, which has been developed specifically for self storage. Read about insurance with Pelican.
When and how do I pay going forward?
After the first payment, rent is paid monthly in advance, with a payment deadline on the 1st of the month. You can pay automatically and free of charge via Betalingsservice or receive your invoice by email. See Pelican’s payment terms
