Ready for 30 days of decluttering?<\/h3>

Before you begin, you can make decluttering easier by sorting your belongings into four categories:<\/p>

Keep<\/strong> \u2013 items you use and want to have in your home.
Sell or give away<\/strong> \u2013 items others can benefit from.
Throw away or recycle<\/strong> \u2013 items that can no longer be used.
Store<\/strong> \u2013 items you want to keep but do not use on a daily basis.<\/p>

Days 1\u20132: Start with an overview<\/h3>

Day 1 \u2013 Set your goal<\/strong><\/p>

What would you like to achieve? More space, fewer belongings, or simply a home that is easier to keep tidy? Write down your goal so you know what you are working towards. <\/p>

Day 2 \u2013 Clear the surfaces<\/strong><\/p>

Tackle the kitchen counter, dining table, coffee table, and other places where things tend to pile up. Remove what does not belong there and find a permanent place for the rest. <\/p>

Days 3\u201310: Get the kitchen under control<\/h3>

The kitchen often holds far more than we think. Tackle one area a day so the task does not become overwhelming. <\/p>

Day 4:<\/strong> The fridge
Day 5:<\/strong> The freezer
Day 6:<\/strong> Glasses, mugs, plates and cutlery
Day 7:<\/strong> Pots, pans and kitchen utensils

Day 9:<\/strong> Junk drawers
Day 10:<\/strong> The area under the kitchen sink<\/p>

Check expiry dates, remove duplicates, and ask yourself whether you actually use the items that take up space.<\/p>

Days 11\u201317: Declutter your wardrobe<\/h3>

Now it is time for your wardrobe. Here, you can quickly free up a surprising amount of space. <\/p>

Day 11:<\/strong> Clothes
Day 12:<\/strong> Jackets and outerwear
Day 13:<\/strong> Clothes on hangers
Day 14:<\/strong> Shoes
Day 15:<\/strong> Bags, backpacks and suitcases
Day 16:<\/strong> Belts, scarves, hats and jewellery
Day 17:<\/strong> Bedding and towels<\/p>

Keep what you use. Pass on what you no longer need \u2013 and consider storage for seasonal clothing and other items you only use during parts of the year. <\/p>

Days 18\u201321:<\/strong> Bathroom and laundry<\/h3>

Small cabinets can quickly fill up with products we have completely forgotten about.<\/p>

Day 18:<\/strong> Mirror cabinet and bathroom drawers
Day 19:<\/strong> Cosmetics, skincare and hygiene products
Day 20:<\/strong> Laundry room and the area around the washing machine
Day 21:<\/strong> The medicine cabinet<\/p>

Remove empty and old products, and group the items you use often so they are easy to find.<\/p>

Days 22\u201328:<\/strong> Tackle the places we often skip<\/h3>

Now it is time for all the small areas where clutter tends to accumulate.<\/p>

Day 22:<\/strong> Papers, receipts and notes
Day 23:<\/strong> The cleaning cupboard
Day 24:<\/strong> Cabinets and drawers in the hallway
Day 25:<\/strong> Books and bookcases
Day 26:<\/strong> Old electronics
Day 27:<\/strong> Children\u2019s clothes
Day 28:<\/strong> Toys and other items<\/p>

Ask yourself: Do we use it? Do we need it? And should it really take up space in the home? <\/p>

Days 29\u201330: The final declutter<\/h3>

You are almost there.<\/p>

Day 29:<\/strong> Go through drawers and cupboards in the bedroom.
Day 30:<\/strong> Finish with cupboards and drawers in the living room and dining room.<\/p>

When you are done, look around and enjoy the result. The goal is not a perfect home, but a home with more space for the things you actually use. <\/p>

What should you do with the things you want to keep?<\/h3>

Decluttering does not have to mean getting rid of everything.<\/p>

Some items have great value even if you do not use them every day. This could be heirlooms, furniture, seasonal clothing, sports equipment, Christmas decorations, or things the children will need later. <\/p>
